Tips & Tricks:

  • If you’re in a rush add all the ingredients to a food blender minus the bay leaf. Then cook the sauce for the time stated. 
  • Feel free to use lemon juice or white wine vinegar instead of white wine. Yes, red wine will taste amazing in this sauce too.  
  • You can use ¼ teaspoon of monk fruit extract or Truvia instead of raw cane sugar.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic chopped fine
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 bay leaf
  • ¼ cup white wine
  • 29 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon raw cane sugar
  • 15 leaves chopped basil

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a medium pot over medium heat, add garlic, Italian seasoning and bay leaf, cook for 15 seconds. Add the white wine, tomato sauce, kosher salt, black pepper and sugar. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 6 minutes. Stir in half the basil, remove bay leaf before serving and garnish with remaining basil.
